Brighton.

LIVERPOOL to win - 4/6 VC, LA, B365, CO, WH.
Four reasons for this bet.
1. Brighton have decided to play two TV games within two days as they
play a vital home CH game against Leeds on Friday evening on Sky TV. Manager Gus
Poyet said on Monday "With the money from those two games we can pay the annual
wages of one player, so we’ll take the risk". However, he went on to say that "I
need to manage the squad the right way to have a decent team against Liverpool
and a very, very good team against Leeds on Friday".
Those words surely must mean that Friday’s Championship match is
[understandably] the one that really matters and that tonight Poyet will rest
several key players.
2. On the other hand Liverpool have clearly targeted this
competition as Kenny Dalglish proved in both his pre match team talk and his
selection at Exeter in the last round. I have been told that Craig Bellamy, Dirk
Kuyt, Maxi Rodriguez, Steven Gerrard, and CB Coates all play.
3. Liverpool will have a real goal threat with Craig Bellamy’s
pace, Dirk Kuyt's goal poaching, and (if he starts) Andy Carroll’s power, and
will also have a strong bench.
4. With regular defender Marcos Painter suspended, Brighton
will probably play 38 year old Mauricio Taricco and so I’d expect Dalglish will
target the veteran with the pacy Bellamy who could well be the key to a
Liverpool win.
IN SUM - Even w/o Agger, Skrtel, and Charlie Adam I take
Liverpool to beat a depleted Brighton side – however I won’t pretend that the
price of 4/6 is clever.
With the news that Bellamy starts he looks a solid EW bet to be FGS at
7/1 CO [1/4 odds a place first four goals].
Bellamy DID start, he was the FGS and he was "the key to the Liverpool
win as he was Man of the Match".
