| Kuchar wins the Barclays Championship title after taking the play-off to claim his first tour victory of 2010 |
40/1 MATT KUCHAR became the
THIRTEENTH winning outright golf bet for
this year when he won The Barclays, the first of the Fedex playoff tournaments. He was the third winner at 40/1 or over in the last four weeks following 60/1 MARTIN KAYMER'S win in the USPGA and 50/1 HUNTER MAHAN'S win in the WGC/Bridgestone.
The outright profit on all outright golf bets is now over 384 points.
MATT KUCHAR was the No.2 pick with T3rd STEVE STRICKER at 20/1 as Keith's No.1 pick.
The analysis behind the chances of Kuchar and Stricker were:
[NO 2 PICK] MATT KUCHAR - ONE POINT EACH WAY @ 40/1
1. With 5 top 10s in his last 7 starts - including in the WGC Bridgestone and USPGA (R1 and R2 ldr) - he's one of the form players of the tour.
2. 1st A-R, 1st scrambling and 2nd sc average, he has all the tools to do really well, and his lack of length isn't penalised here.
3. Like Stricker, his excellent putting should serve him well on greens which proved quite testing in 2008. Although he had a MC then, he was out of form at
the time and his game wasn't anything like so strong as it is now (110th A-R 2008).
IN SUM: So consistent that he merits serious consideration wherever he plays at the moment, and this course should suit him.
[NO 1 PICK] STEVE STRICKER - TWO POINTS EACH WAY @ 20/1
1. Look beyond his T19th 2008 here, and you find he was R2 leader at 10 under (2 better than the eventual winning score) before dropping 7 shots in 7 holes
during R3. If he'd played those holes in par (as he did in R4) he'd have won the event by 3 shots!
2. His iron play in recent events has been excellent (1st GIR WGC; T2nd GIR USPGA) and only a relatively poor week on the greens at Whistling Straits
stopped him being in the shake up.
3. Excellent stats overall: 3rd sc avg; 4th P/GIR; 5th birdies; 5th A-R.
IN SUM: Steve has 7 top 10s in 12 Play-Off starts including 2 wins. Well worth backing to make that 3 wins.
On the European Tour Keith 'hit the bar' when third round leader 20/1 FRANCESCO MOLINARI finished T3rd in the Johnnie Walker Championship at Gleneagles
