British Open Golf Bets Boost Members Profits

A hugely successful year was given a further boost at St Andrews when all members were given three big winning bets at 4pm on Monday afternoon.

Only three Nationality market bets were given and as Keith opposed Tiger Woods he saw value in the Top American market in which his two bets hit the jackpot!!

SEAN O'HAIR (TOP AMERICAN) WON [dh] 25/1

1. When St Andrews was last the Open venue in 2005 Sean O'Hair was just a 23 year old. He played well then on his Open debut to finish 15th [R2 67] - just 4 shots off 2nd place and he was then 3rd in this market at 50/1.
2. He has played in the Open ALL four years since then and made every cut with 14th in 2006 his best finish.
3. He is a player who is moving fast towards his best form - with recent form figs of 12-MC-12-12 US Open-11 so that's 4 top 12 finishes in his last 5 starts. In his last start in the AT+T he was T3rd for GIR so his ball striking is in good order.
4. He has won three times in USA - notably last year when he won on the tough course at Quail Hollow.
IN SUM: He's in form, proven on this links course, and a guy with 'bottle' so in this limited market I think he can do now what he did 5 years ago, when he wasn't as good as he is now, by rewarding an EW bet to be the Top American.

JEFF OVERTON (TOP AMERICAN) 3rd at 60/1

1. Has 4 top 3s in his last 8 US starts. Although he's yet to 'seal the deal' his IC record is actually very good.
2. Has played The Open twice. Made the cut on his first visit and then shot 3 rounds at par or better to be T13th 2009 at Turnberry when he was T4th in this Top American market.
3. Top 15 P/GIR, top 20 birdies and distance, he's 18th A-R to show he has a very solid game in all departments. With an eye on the massive greens this week it's worth noting he's 7th for putts >25 feet.
IN SUM: He's on offer at 100/1-150/1 in the outright market but taking out The Europeans, Aussies, South Africans and Asians he looks a cracking EW bet in the Top American market at this massive 60/1 - if it's clipped to 45/1 or more that would still be acceptable.

And in the Outright market the equal biggest stake of the week was recommended on RORY McILROY T3rd at 17/1

1. Rory simply loves St Andrews as his Dunhill Links record shows - 3rd in 2007, 8th in 2008 and T2nd last year.
2. He has always shot in the 6Os at St Andrews where in the Dunhill he has played six rounds - 65 + 69 in 2009, 68 + 67 in 2008, and 67 + 68 in 2007 - for an amazing course stroke average of 67.33 - that's surely proof positive that this track really suits this young prodigy.
3. Graeme McDowell's US Open win when Rory's dad was one of the guys greeting the winner at Pebble Beach has been a real inspiration to McIlroy.
4. On his last European Tour start McIlroy played well in the French Open where he was 4th and crucially he was T1st for GIR at 84.7%.
5. He has his first US win on the ultra tough Quail Hollow course this year after breaking the course record with a R4 62. He also had won last year on the European Tour in Dubai.
6. Didn't play last week at Loch Lomond - played in the two day JP McManus finishing 4 off the winner.
IN SUM: Given his course record and current form he looks sure to be in contention, he fancies his chance this week and so do I. Another who looks a solid EW bet with place payment on the first 7.

Overall in a tournament that had favoured the bookies there was a profit of over 21.75 points for an 87% return.
