2. They have a well balanced side with pace, strength, and the ability to counter attack quickly. After the inconsistencies of recent years they now seem ready to 'explode' on to the Six Nations' stage.
3. France have 4 teams in the last 8 of the Heineken Cup.
4. Crucially they have a kind fixture list as their away games are in Scotland [5th in the betting] and Wales [4th in the betting] - their home matches are against both Ireland and England who are 2nd and 3rd respectively in the betting, and no hopers Italy.
5. Ireland with a settled side that was unbeaten in 2009 look to be the main dangers so to play them in Paris is a massive advantage.
IN SUM: Injuries can play a vital part but FRANCE can win this year's Six Nations and they may even win all their games and so achieve the Grand Slam
RUGBY LEAGUE
So far this season Keith has given only two THREE STAR BETS and BOTH HAVE WON.
March 5th: HULL Handicap -8pts v CASTLEFORD at 10/11
1. Hull were impressive at home last week when beating Harlequins by 24pts. Tonight they will have all the players from that game fit to play so although they will still be without Sean Long they will have goal kicking forward Danny Tickle, last week's man of the match FB Richard Whiting and the revitalised in-form Kirk Yeoman.
2. Cas last week lost by 4 pts at home to Hull KR - it was their 3rd consecutive defeat in which they have conceded 93 points.
3. Cas' bad luck with injuries continues as they have the influential Dean Widders, Richard Owen injured and this week they have also lost forward Matt Ferres.
IN SUM: Hull have the momentum, skill and the incentive of going joint top if Wigan lose. I expect them to beat Cas by more than 8 points.
THE BET WON AS HULL WON by 20 points [42-22]
March 19th: CRUSADERS Handicap -4pts v CATALANS at EVENS
1. Collateral Form - Both sides have played away to Saints, Salford and Wigan. Crusaders won at Salford by 8 more than The Dragons, at St Helens they lost by 25 less than the Dragons, and at Wigan they lost by 26 less than the Dragons - that collateral form points very strongly to the Crusaders winning especially with home advantage.
2. Team News - Catalan will now be without FB Greenshields which is a massive blow as well as Thomas Bosc. The Crusaders will have welsh RU legend Gareth Thomas in their squad for his debut.
3. Michael Witt - the Crusaders' star player was man of the match at St Helens last week and this season he has scored 44 points [3 tries + 16 goals] which is 5th best in Superleague. His cross field kicking and use of the 'bomb' is superb.
4. Pressure on Catalans coach - Kevin Walters' position is under threat after only one win this season.
IN SUM: At home before a big crowd attracted by the debut of Welsh legend Gareth Thomas, Crusaders look set for a solid win tonight against an out of form Catalans team who will be without their two best players.
