Bookmakers pay out after Elliott's Premier Sports Betting intervenes
A RECENT MEMBER'S STORY
Recently a member took my ante post advice and backed Phil Mickelson EW for the US Masters on the internet site of a well known reputable
bookmaker.
After Phil had finished 5th the member naturally expected to be paid out and to his great shock and anger he was not paid as the bet was treated as a loser!
He was told that on the morning that the bet was struck the place odds clearly displayed on the screen were 1/4 odds 1-3, not the usual golf odds of 1/ 4 1-5. Indeed the odds on the screen at that time were 1/4 1-3. So strictly speaking the member had indeed struck a losing bet and no claim to IBAS could have succeeded.
After the member let the office know of this I contacted someone I knew in the company and after some investigation the firm accepted that they had made an inadvertent error - a guy had put up the place odds incorrectly, they admitted it was a mistake and they were pleased
I'd brought it to their attention and have now credited the client's account accordingly.
This shows two key points:
1. Always check the place odds of all bets especially on the internet when we're not speaking to anyone, or writing out a slip.
2. If like this member you find an error has been made and customer services are not putting it right do let Angie in the office know (call on 01625 583 300 and we'll follow it up on your behalf.
